Welcome

The African Network of Analytical Chemists was founded as the Southern and Eastern Network of Analytical Chemists in February 2002 during a workshop funded by Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), held in Gaborone, Botswana.

This workshop was attended by delegates representing 13 universities from 11 African countries. This network has since been joined by Analytical Chemsits from all over the continent. Analytical Chemistry finds application worldwide as it facilitates in provision of solutions that enhance access to quality water, monitor and minimize the impact of industrial activities in the environment, and also to improve public health. In Africa, developing solutions for local problems remain a great challenge. Hence the need for African Analytical Chemists and other academics and researchers using Analytical Chemistry in the continent to continuously meet. The Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of Mozambique (ACM), working within the framework of the

African Network of Analytical Chemists (SEANAC), extends an invitation to African Analytical Chemists and other academics and researchers in Africa, and throughout the world to attend the 4th SEANAC Conference 2012. It is our hope that this conference will influence global decisions and outcomes over the coming years.

Aims of the conference

  • To share experiences and current research results related to Analytical Chemistry endeavours in Africa and the rest of the world
  • To demonstrate the role of Analytical Chemistry in practically all areas of life, namely, food production and food security, health, agriculture, provision of quality water, biofuels, environment, mining, etc.
  • To build capacity and promote research particularly on Health, Environment and Water.
